UTQ8733 : Steinerne Brücke

Steinerne Brücke
The first crossing point erected across the Danube after the departure of the Roman Empire, and the archetype for so many stone bridges from Ireland to the Urals that came afterwards, this was built in the years 1135–46 to provide a crossing not vulnerable to flood and torrent.
The years took their toll, and by the 21st century it was necesary to close it to vehicular traffic and rebuild it. It's now ready for another 800 years.
